The 58 hp naturally aspirated engine of 1998–2000 (72 Nm, boost No) is not the same as the 58 hp 2 generation engine (65 Nm at 4000 rpm, Inline 3). The 64 hp Turbo of generation 1 makes 99 Nm at 3200 rpm; the 64 hp Turbo of generation 2 makes 103 Nm at 2800 rpm — 4 Nm more, 400 rpm earlier.
Performance and economy (0-100, top speed, mpg)
0–100 km/h is not measured on any of the 50 versions.
Top speed is measured only on selected 0.7 MT rows of generation 1: 130 km/h on the 46 hp 0.7 MT FWD and AWD (launch, restyling, restyling 2, restyling 3), on the 58 hp 0.7 MT FWD and AWD of the 1998–2000 launch, and on the 64 hp Turbo 0.7 MT FWD and AWD of 1998–2002 (launch and restyling) and of restyling 2. All 0.7 CVT versions: top speed not measured. All 60 hp Turbo versions: top speed not measured. Entire 2 generation (all 0.7 MT, 0.7 CVT, 0.7 AT): top speed not measured.
City, highway and mixed fuel consumption: not measured on every version. CO₂: not measured. Eco class: not measured.
Dimensions and weight
Wheel size is not measured on any version.
2 generation (2010–2018). Ground clearance 160 mm. Tank 36 l. Kerb weight 720 kg on 0.7 MT 58 hp FWD and AWD, on 0.7 CVT 58 hp FWD and AWD, and on 0.7 CVT 64 hp Turbo FWD and AWD. Kerb weight of both 0.7 AT 58 hp versions is not measured. Gross weight 1030 kg on all 10 versions. Payload where kerb is known: 1030 − 720 = 310 kg. Front suspension Independent, spring; rear Semi-independent, torsion. Front brakes Disc, rear Drum.
1 generation including restylings (1998–2010). Ground clearance 150 mm. Tank 32 l. Front suspension Independent, spring; rear Independent, spring. Front brakes Ventilated disc, rear Drum.
Kerb 770 kg: 46 hp 0.7 MT FWD and AWD in every first-generation block; 58 hp 0.7 MT FWD and AWD in the 1998–2000 launch. Kerb 820 kg: 64 hp Turbo 0.7 MT FWD and AWD (launch, restyling, restyling 2) — 50 kg above the 770 kg naturally aspirated 0.7 MT. Kerb 830 kg: 60 hp Turbo 0.7 MT FWD and AWD in restyling and restyling 2 — 60 kg above 770 kg, 10 kg above the 64 hp Turbo 0.7 MT. Kerb of every 0.7 CVT in generation 1 is not measured.
Gross 1090 kg: all 46 hp and 58 hp versions of generation 1 where listed. Gross of 60 hp and 64 hp Turbo versions is not measured, except that restyling 3 has no 60/64 hp rows.
Which version to choose
If the goal is maximum catalogue power, the 64 hp (47 kW) Turbo versions are the top of the file in both generations: 0.7 CVT 64 hp in 2 generation (103 Nm) and 0.7 MT / 0.7 CVT 64 hp in generation 1 (99 Nm). Versus the 46 hp 0.7 MT, that is +18 hp. Versus the 58 hp 2 generation 0.7 MT, +6 hp and +38 Nm (103 − 65).
If the goal is the lightest kerb in the file, 2 generation 0.7 MT and 0.7 CVT at 720 kg. That is 50 kg below the 770 kg first-generation 46/58 hp 0.7 MT, 100 kg below the 820 kg 64 hp Turbo 0.7 MT, and 110 kg below the 830 kg 60 hp Turbo 0.7 MT.
If the goal is ground clearance, 2 generation at 160 mm versus 150 mm on generation 1.
If the goal is tank volume, 2 generation 36 l versus 32 l on generation 1.
If the goal is a four-speed Automatic, only 2 generation 0.7 AT 58 hp FWD and 0.7 AT 58 hp AWD exist in this catalogue. Gear count on Variable boxes is not measured.
If the goal is AWD, it is listed next to FWD on almost every power/gearbox pair: 0.7 MT and 0.7 CVT in both generations, and 0.7 AT in 2 generation. Restyling 3 is 46 hp only (No boost), so after 2005-06-01 the first generation no longer lists 60 hp or 64 hp Turbo in this file.
If the goal is the only measured top speed, stay on first-generation 0.7 MT rows that publish 130 km/h. 2 generation speed is not measured, so it cannot be ranked on that axis.
Problems, reliability
The catalogue does not record failure rates, recalls or a reliability score. Those figures are not measured here. What the numbers do show: one displacement (658 cm³) across 20 years; a switch from Inline 4 (generation 1) to Inline 3 (generation 2); Turbo only on 60 hp and 64 hp rows (plus 2 generation 64 hp 0.7 CVT); Manual 5 or Variable on generation 1, with Automatic 4 added only in 2 generation; FWD and AWD offered in parallel. Suspension and brakes are uniform within each generation as listed above.
