Skywell ET5: which version to buy

The Skywell ET5 is a five-door electric SUV with two catalogue generations: first generation (October 2020–August 2022) and first generation restyling (from September 2022, still in production). If the choice is “which ET5,” the split is not body style — every listed version is SUV 5-doors — but battery badge, power, drive, and whether a 0–100 km/h and kerb-weight figure was measured.

There is no measured price in this dataset, so “what the extra money buys” below means what the extra catalogue figures buy, not a quote.

Skywell ET5 generations: what actually changed

First generation (October 2020–August 2022) offered two versions. Both are Electro, Automatic with 1 gear, FWD, independent spring suspension front and rear, ventilated disc front brakes, disc rear brakes, and CO2 0. ET5 50 is the thinner performance sheet: 204 hp, 320 Nm, top speed 150 km/h, 0–100 km/h not measured, kerb weight not measured. ET5 72 keeps 204 hp but raises torque to 326 Nm (+6 Nm versus ET5 50), top speed to 160 km/h (+10 km/h), and is the only first-generation version with a measured 0–100 km/h of 7.9 s and a measured kerb weight of 1920 kg. Modification windows in the data run to 28 February 2023 even though the generation stop is 31 August 2022.

First generation restyling (from September 2022) is still one generation, not a second one: same SUV 5-doors body, four versions instead of two. The FWD pair is renamed around battery labels: ET5 72 kWh and ET5 86 kWh. Against first-generation ET5 72, both restyling FWD versions copy 204 hp, 150 kW, 326 Nm, 7.9 s to 100 km/h, 160 km/h, 1920 kg, Automatic 1, FWD, CO2 0. Arithmetic between ET5 72 kWh and ET5 86 kWh on power, torque, acceleration, top speed, and kerb weight is zero: the only named difference in this dataset is the 72 kWh versus 86 kWh badge (86 − 72 = 14 kWh of labelled capacity). The restyling also adds an AWD pair: ET5 75 kWh and ET5 100 kWh, both 489 hp (359 kW), Automatic 1, AWD, CO2 0. Torque, 0–100 km/h, top speed, and kerb weight for both AWD versions are not measured. Between ET5 75 kWh and ET5 100 kWh the measured power and drive are identical; the labelled gap is 100 − 75 = 25 kWh.

Skywell ET5 performance: 0–100, top speed, mpg

City, highway, and combined consumption are not measured on any version, so there is no mpg figure to rank. CO2 is 0 on all six.

ET5 50 is the only version limited to 150 km/h in the data and the only FWD version without a 0–100 km/h number. ET5 72, ET5 72 kWh, and ET5 86 kWh share 7.9 s and 160 km/h. Used versus new, 2022 versus 2023 versus 2025. First generation production in the generation record stops 31 August 2022; restyling starts 1 September 2022 and has no stop date. A 2022 review or a used car can be either generation depending on month. A 2023 or 2025 car, if it is an ET5 in this line, sits in the restyling window.
