Do not buy the 1.6 for “more engine.” 1.6 MT and 1.6 AT at 95 hp (70 kW) use 1588 cm³ — 117 cm³ more than the 1471 cm³ 1.5 — yet make 5 hp less than the naturally aspirated 1.5 MT / 1.5 AT 100 hp (74 kW). Torque is 131 Nm @ 4800 versus 130 Nm @ 4400: +1 Nm, 400 rpm later. Compression is 9.1 versus 9.5. Bore and stroke 80 × 79 versus 77 × 79. Peak power is 5800 rpm versus 6000. Specific output 59.8 hp/l versus 68.0. The 1.6’s measured job in this catalogue is AWD with a naturally aspirated engine: the 100 hp 1.5 is FWD only.

Buy naturally aspirated 1.5 if you want the smallest engine with a complete torque figure and a 5-speed or 3-speed choice, FWD only. 1.5 MT 100 hp and 1.5 AT 100 hp share 100 hp @ 6000, 130 Nm @ 4400, 1471 cm³, No boost, 3 valves, 9.5 compression, 77 × 79. They differ only in Manual 5 versus Automatic 3. Both are FWD. There is no AWD 100 hp 1.5 in the 12 versions shown.

Buy Turbo 1.5 if you want 120 hp from 1471 cm³. That is +20 hp versus the 100 hp 1.5 (+20%) and +25 hp versus the 95 hp 1.6 (+26.3%). Specific output 81.6 hp/l is the catalogue peak. Torque is not measured on all four Turbo cars, so you cannot compare Nm to the 130 / 131 / 162 figures. Same 9.5 compression and 77 × 79 as the 100 hp 1.5. Versus Turbo 1.5 120 hp: +20 hp, torque known only on the 1.8 (162 Nm), displacement +338 cm³, 4 valves versus 3, No boost versus Turbo. There is no 1.8 AT among the 12 versions shown — 1.8 is Manual 5 only.

Gearbox: Manual 5 versus Automatic 3

Every Automatic in this set is 3 speeds; every Manual is 5. That is two extra ratios on the stick, not a different engine.

• 100 hp 1.5: 1.5 MT versus 1.5 AT, both FWD, both 100 hp / 130 Nm. The AT does not cut power in the data.
