Honda Logo: which version to buy and why
If you are choosing a Honda Logo, the decision is not between generations — there is 1 generation (October 1996–May 2001), one Mini 5-doors body, and 8 petrol 1.3 versions that share a 1343 cm³ inline-4 with no boost. The spread that matters is 65 hp versus 91 hp (a 26 hp gap), FWD versus AWD, 790 kg versus 1040 kg kerb weight (250 kg), and whether the gearbox is Automatic, Manual, or Variable.

Fuel is 95 on three versions and 92 on five. Use the names below exactly as listed; several rows share 1.3 AT, 1.3 MT, or 1.3 CVT and must be told apart by horsepower and kilowatts.
Honda Logo generations compared
1 generation (1996-10-01 to 2001-05-31) is the whole catalogue: Mini 5-doors, 8 versions, no later generation to “step up” to. Ground clearance in the data is 145 mm, 150 mm, or 155 mm; the 10 mm extra sits on one AWD 1.3 CVT at 65 hp / 49 kW, not on a new body. Rear suspension is Independent, spring on one AWD row and Semi-independent, springorts hélicoïdaux, sem on the other seven — that is a chassis difference inside the same generation, not a restyle listed separately.
Honda Logo engine specs by version
Every engine is Gasoline, 4 cylinders, Inline, boost No. Front layout is Front, transverse where measured; one AWD row leaves layout not measured. Injection is Distributed injection (multi-point) on all eight.

Power per litre (hp ÷ 1.343 L): 65 hp versions are about 48.4 hp/L; 91 hp versions are about 67.8 hp/L — +19.4 hp/L, or +40%, from the same 1343 cm³. The 91 hp rows also run 4 valves per cylinder versus 2, peak power 1300 rpm higher (6300 vs 5000), and peak torque 2300 rpm higher (4800 vs 2500). Torque itself only moves 108 → 110 → 113 → 114 Nm (+6 Nm at the top). Compression is 9.2 on both 65 hp 1.3 CVT rows that list it, and 9.1 on the 91 hp rows; bore × stroke 75 × 76 is listed on six versions and not measured on 1.3 AT 65 hp and 1.3 MT 65 hp.
The 1 kW split inside 65 hp (48 kW vs 49 kW) and the 1 Nm split inside 91 hp (114 Nm vs 113 Nm) are how you tell otherwise identical 1.3 CVT / 1.3 MT names apart.
Honda Logo performance, 0-100, and mpg
Measured 0-100 km/h exists on three versions only:
- 1.3 AT 65 hp: 14.5 s, top speed 160 km/h
- 1.3 MT 65 hp: 14.5 s, top speed 160 km/h
- 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 48 kW AWD: 15.6 s, top speed 145 km/h
The AWD Variable car is 1.1 s slower to 100 and 15 km/h slower on top than the light FWD 65 hp pair. Fuel use is measured only on that same AWD row: city 8.7, highway 6.1, mixed 7 (units as in the catalogue). CO2 is not measured on all eight. Eco class is not measured on all eight.
For 1.3 CVT 91 hp / 114 Nm, 1.3 MT 91 hp / 114 Nm, 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 49 kW, 1.3 CVT 91 hp / 113 Nm, and 1.3 MT 91 hp / 113 Nm: 0-100 is not measured, top speed is not measured, and city / highway / mixed consumption are not measured. You cannot rank the 91 hp cars on sprint or mpg from this dataset; you can only rank them on power, weight, drive, and gearbox.
Tank is 40 on every version, so range differences, if any, come from consumption — and consumption is not measured except on 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 48 kW AWD.
Honda Logo dimensions, weight, and ground clearance
Kerb weight clusters in three numbers:
- 790 kg: 1.3 AT 65 hp and 1.3 MT 65 hp (FWD)
- 980 kg: all four 91 hp versions (+190 kg vs the light pair)
- 1040 kg: both 65 hp AWD 1.3 CVT rows (+250 kg vs 790, +60 kg vs 980)
Weight per horsepower:
- 1.3 AT / 1.3 MT 65 hp: 790 ÷ 65 ≈ 12.2 kg/hp
- 1.3 CVT 65 hp AWD (both): 1040 ÷ 65 = 16.0 kg/hp — +3.8 kg/hp versus the light 65 hp cars
- 91 hp versions: 980 ÷ 91 ≈ 10.8 kg/hp — lightest load per horsepower in the range (1.4 kg/hp better than the 790 kg / 65 hp pair)
Gross weight is 1365 kg on 1.3 AT 65 hp and 1.3 MT 65 hp, and not measured on the other six. Payload on those two, if you subtract kerb from gross: 1365 − 790 = 575 kg.
Ground clearance:
- 145 mm: all 91 hp versions
- 150 mm: 1.3 AT 65 hp, 1.3 MT 65 hp, and 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 48 kW AWD
- 155 mm: 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 49 kW AWD only (10 mm above the 91 hp cars, 5 mm above the other 65 hp cars)
Wheels are listed only on 1.3 CVT 91 hp / 114 Nm and 1.3 MT 91 hp / 114 Nm: 155/80 R13 and 175/65 R14. On the other six versions wheel size is not measured.
Front brakes are Disc, rear Drum, front suspension Independent, spring on all eight.
Which Honda Logo version to choose
There is no second generation, so “buy the later one” is not a choice. The arithmetic splits the eight rows into four jobs.
1. Lightest city car — 1.3 AT 65 hp or 1.3 MT 65 hp. These are the only versions at 790 kg. Same engine (65 hp / 48 kW, 108 Nm, fuel 95), same 14.5 s and 160 km/h, same 150 mm clearance, same 1365 kg gross. The only measured difference is gearbox: Automatic with 3 gears versus Manual with 5. If you want the fewest kilograms and a measured top speed, pick between these two on whether you want 3-speed Automatic or 5-speed Manual. They are also the only pair with fuel grade 95 on FWD (the third 95 car is AWD).
2. Most power per kilo — 1.3 MT 91 hp (114 Nm or 113 Nm). 91 hp in 980 kg is ≈10.8 kg/hp, the best ratio here. Versus 1.3 MT 65 hp you gain 26 hp and 5–6 Nm and lose 190 kg of lightness (980 vs 790). 0-100 and mpg on both 91 hp manuals are not measured, so you are buying the higher specific output (≈67.8 vs 48.4 hp/L) and 4 valves per cylinder, not a proven sprint time. Tell the two 1.3 MT 91 hp rows apart by torque: 114 Nm versus 113 Nm; both are 67 kW @ 6300, fuel 92, FWD, 5-speed Manual, 145 mm clearance. The 114 Nm 1.3 MT is the one with listed wheels (155/80 R13, 175/65 R14); on the 113 Nm 1.3 MT wheels are not measured.
3. CVT without AWD weight — 1.3 CVT 91 hp (114 Nm or 113 Nm). Same 91 hp / 67 kW, 980 kg, FWD, fuel 92, 145 mm as the strong manuals, but Variable instead of Manual. Versus 1.3 CVT 65 hp AWD you drop 60 kg (980 vs 1040), gain 26 hp, and switch from AWD to FWD. 0-100, top speed, and consumption on both 91 hp CVTs are not measured. Distinguish 114 Nm (wheels listed) from 113 Nm (wheels not measured). Compression 9.1, bore × stroke 75 × 76 on both.
4. AWD — only the two 65 hp 1.3 CVT rows. No 91 hp Logo in this data is AWD. You pay in mass: 1040 kg, 16.0 kg/hp.
- 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 48 kW: fuel 95, 108 Nm, 15.6 s, 145 km/h, mixed 7, city 8.7, highway 6.1, clearance 150 mm, rear Independent, spring, layout not measured, compression 9.2. This is the only version with a full measured economy set.
- 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 49 kW: fuel 92, 110 Nm (+2 Nm), 49 kW (+1 kW), clearance 155 mm (+5 mm vs its twin, +10 mm vs 91 hp), rear Semi-independent, springorts hélicoïdaux, sem, layout Front, transverse. 0-100, top speed, and mpg are not measured.
What the “extra” does not buy. There is no diesel, no turbo (No on all), no extra body, no extra generation. Automatic exists only as 1.3 AT 65 hp — there is no 91 hp Automatic. If you need 3-speed Automatic, you are locked to 65 hp, 790 kg, FWD, fuel 95. If you need AWD, you are locked to 65 hp, 1040 kg, Variable. If you need 91 hp, you are locked to FWD, 980 kg, fuel 92, and not measured sprint and mpg.
Short ranking from the numbers only. Lowest kg/hp: 91 hp 1.3 MT and 1.3 CVT (≈10.8). Lightest absolute: 1.3 AT / 1.3 MT 65 hp (790 kg). Only measured 160 km/h: those same two. Only measured mixed 7: 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 48 kW AWD. Highest clearance: 1.3 CVT 65 hp / 49 kW (155 mm). Only AWD: the two 65 hp 1.3 CVT rows. Only listed wheels: 1.3 CVT 91 hp / 114 Nm and 1.3 MT 91 hp / 114 Nm. Choose the row whose measured columns match the job; do not infer 0-100 or mpg where the sheet says not measured.
