Cylinders: 1 generation 1.2 MT LPG is 4 Inline (not 3). Injection: petrol and LPG with a measured system use Distributed injection (multi-point); 3 generation, restyling 1.5 dCi MT uses Direct injection (direct); diesel injection on other 1.5 units is not measured. Rear suspension English label in the data is Semi-independent, springorts hélicoïdaux, sem; front is Independent, spring.

1 generation (Mini 5-doors, 2008–2012) is the only era without a three-cylinder turbo petrol. Gearboxes are Manual, 5 gears, FWD. Ground clearance is 155 mm on most versions and 175 mm on four listed cars. Tank 50 l. Wheel sizes not measured. This generation is the one you buy only if you need a simple four-cylinder No-boost petrol or an early diesel — not if you want 0–100 under 11.5 s, except the 87 hp 1.6 MT Gasoline at 11.5 s.

2 generation (Hatchback 5-door, 2012–2017) introduces the 898 cc Turbo 90 hp petrol and Robotic 5- and 6-speed units. Clearance is 163 mm on most versions and 189 mm on four: 0.9 MT Gasoline 90 hp (1105 kg), 0.9 MT LPG 90 hp (1086 kg), 1.5 DSG Diesel 90 hp (1083 kg, 166 km/h), 0.9 DSG Gasoline 90 hp (1038 kg). That 26 mm step (189 − 163) is the largest clearance split inside one generation. Mixed consumption on the 90 hp petrol 0.9 MT Gasoline Euro 6 is 4.9 l/100 km at 962 kg; the Euro 5 0.9 MT Gasoline at 189 mm is 5.4 l/100 km at 1105 kg — 143 kg heavier, 0.5 l/100 km more mixed.

2 generation, restyling (Mini 5-doors, 2016–2021) keeps 163 mm on every listed car and adds 1.0 MT 101 hp (Gasoline and LPG) plus 0.9 TCe Easy-R. Peak speed in this generation is 181 km/h on 1.0 MT Gasoline 101 hp. Two 0.9 MT Gasoline 90 hp cars share the name: one 168 km/h / 5.1 mixed / 1040 kg / 115 g/km CO2; the other 175 km/h / 4.9 mixed / 962 kg / 109 g/km. Same badge, 7 km/h and 78 kg apart — buy the 962 kg car if both are on the lot.

3 generation (Mini 5-doors, from 2020-09-01) drops diesel from this list and runs four 999 cc Inline 3 cars. 1.0 MT 65 hp, boost not measured, 5 Manual, 16.7 s, 158 km/h, 15.6 kg/hp. 1.0 T MT 90 hp Turbo, 6 Manual, 11.7 s, 178 km/h, 11.69 kg/hp. 1.0 T CVT 90 hp, Variable, gears not measured, 13.4 s, 169 km/h — 1.7 s slower than the 6-speed 1.0 T MT for the same 90 hp, with mixed 5.7 versus 5.1 l/100 km. 1.0 T GAS MT 100 hp LPG is the generation’s and the model’s fastest listed top speed at 183 km/h.

3 generation, restyling (from 2022-06-01) is the shortest spec sheet: tank, CO2, eco class, kerb, gross, 0–100 and top speed are not measured on four of five cars. What is measured: 1.5 dCi MT 95 hp Diesel, 220 Nm at 1500 rpm, mixed 4.1 l/100 km; two different 1.0 TCe MT cars (100 hp / 160 Nm at 2000 rpm, mixed 4.1; and 91 hp / 142 Nm at 175 rpm, 12.2 s, 175 km/h, mixed not measured); 1.0 TCe CVT 91 hp, mixed 5.8; 1.0 SCe MT 67 hp, mixed 5.3. Clearance 162 mm on all five. Do not treat this generation as “unknown” — the missing figures are not measured, not absent as a type of car.

Brakes: Ventilated disc front, Drum rear, on generations where measured. 3 generation, restyling does not measure those chassis fields except clearance 162 mm.

Performance and economy

Fastest 0–100 among measured cars: 2 generation 0.9 DSG Gasoline 175 km/h and 2 generation, restyling 0.9 DSG / 0.9 TCe Easy-R at 11.0 s. 3 generation 1.0 T GAS MT is 11.6 s with 10 more hp than those 90 hp cars — 0.6 s slower, 8 km/h faster (183 vs 175). Slowest measured: 1 generation 1.5 MT 68 hp 1141 kg 16.7 s and 3 generation 1.0 MT 65 hp 16.7 s. 1 generation 1.2 MT LPG 72 hp is 15.2 s; 2 generation 1.2 MT (Gasoline and LPG, 75 hp) is 14.5 s — 0.7 s gained for 3 hp and a later generation.

Top speed spread: 150 km/h (1 generation 1.5 MT 68 hp, 175 mm) to 183 km/h (3 generation 1.0 T GAS MT). 2 generation, restyling 1.0 MT Gasoline 101 hp is 181 km/h; 0–100 11.7 s, same as 3 generation 1.0 T MT 90 hp — 11 extra hp in the older restyle does not buy a quicker sprint here, but 3 km/h more peak (181 vs 178). 3 generation 1.0 T CVT 90 hp is 13.4 s and 169 km/h versus the sibling 1.0 T MT 11.7 s and 178 km/h: the Variable gearbox costs 1.7 s and 9 km/h on the same 90 hp Turbo 999 cc engine, and mixed fuel 5.7 vs 5.1 l/100 km (+0.6).

Diesel mixed: 1 generation 1.5 MT 68 hp 1090 kg = 4.5 l/100 km; the 1141 kg 68 hp twin = 5.3. 2 generation / restyling 1.5 MT 75 and 90 hp Manual = 3.9 mixed. 1.5 DSG 90 hp = 3.6 or 3.8 mixed depending on the row (3.6 with 92 g/km CO2 and 172 km/h; 3.8 with 98 g/km and 166 km/h). 3 generation, restyling 1.5 dCi MT 95 hp mixed 4.1 — 0.2–0.5 worse than the older 90 hp DSG figures, with 0–100 and top speed not measured.

Petrol mixed: 1 generation 1.2 MT Gasoline 5.9; 1.4 MT Gasoline 7.0; 1.6 MT Gasoline 7.2 or 7.6. 2 generation 0.9 MT Gasoline 4.9 (Euro 6, 962 kg) or 5.4 (Euro 5, 1105 kg). 0.9 DSG 4.9 or 5.1. 0.9 TCe Easy-R 5.6 — 0.7 l/100 km more mixed than the 4.9 0.9 DSG at the same 11.0 s and 175 km/h; the Easy-R also carries 1085 kg vs 980 kg (+105 kg). 3 generation 1.0 T MT mixed 5.1; 1.0 MT 65 hp mixed 5.2 — almost the same fuel for 25 fewer hp. City and highway on all 3 generation and 3 generation, restyling petrols: not measured except mixed where listed. 2 generation, restyling 1.0 MT Gasoline and LPG: city, highway, mixed, CO2 all not measured for the LPG 101 hp; Gasoline 101 hp also city/highway/mixed/CO2 not measured.

LPG mixed: 1 generation 1.2 MT 7.6; 1.4 MT 8.3; 1.6 MT 82 hp 9.6 — the thirstiest mixed figure in the catalogue. 2 generation 0.9 MT LPG 6.4 or 6.5; restyling LPG 5.1 (1090 kg, same 5.8/4.7/5.1 as one Gasoline row) or 6.4. 3 generation 1.0 T GAS MT mixed 5.3.

CO2 where measured: lowest 92 g/km on 1.5 DSG 90 hp (172 km/h rows); 98 g/km on the 166 km/h 1.5 DSG; 101–115 on 0.9 petrol/LPG; 140 on 2 generation 1.2 MT Gasoline; 165 on 1 generation 1.4 MT Gasoline — the highest CO2 in the set. Many diesels and the 101 hp 1.0 MT pair: CO2 not measured. Eco class: Euro 4, Euro 5, Euro 6 as listed; not measured on 1 generation 1.5 MT 90 hp 12.3 s, 1 generation 1.6 MT Gasoline 175 mm, and all 3 generation, restyling rows.

Dimensions and weight

Tank is 50 l wherever measured; 3 generation, restyling tank not measured. Wheel sizes not measured on every version.

Kerb weight (measured): lightest 2 generation / 2 generation, restyling 0.9 MT Gasoline 90 hp 962 kg (10.69 kg/hp). Heaviest 1 generation 1.6 MT Gasoline 175 mm 1204 kg (13.84 kg/hp). 1 generation 1.5 MT 68 hp 1141 kg is 16.78 kg/hp — worst measured power-to-weight. 3 generation 1.0 T GAS MT 1107 kg / 100 hp = 11.07 kg/hp, better than 3 generation 1.0 T MT 1052 kg / 90 hp = 11.69 kg/hp. Gross: 1470 kg (1 generation 1.2 MT and 1.4 MT Gasoline) to 1620 kg (2 generation, restyling 1.5 DSG 166 km/h). Payload (gross − kerb) on the 962 kg 0.9 MT is 1520 − 962 = 558 kg; on the 1090 kg 1.5 DSG 166 km/h restyle 1620 − 1090 = 530 kg; on 3 generation 1.0 MT 1477 − 1014 = 463 kg.

Ground clearance: 1 generation 155 or 175 mm; 2 generation 163 or 189 mm; 2 generation, restyling 163 mm; 3 generation and 3 generation, restyling 162 mm. The 189 mm 2 generation cars are the highest. Clearance does not change with the 101 hp 1.0 MT or the 100 hp 1.0 T GAS MT.

3 generation, restyling: kerb and gross not measured on all five — do not infer them from the 2020 3 generation cars.

Which version to choose

Want the fewest seconds to 100 km/h. Take 2 generation 0.9 DSG Gasoline 90 hp (11.0 s, 175 km/h, 980 kg, 4.9 mixed, 110 g/km) or the matching 2 generation, restyling 0.9 DSG. 0.9 TCe Easy-R matches 11.0 s and 175 km/h but uses 5.6 mixed and 1085 kg. A 5-speed 0.9 MT Gasoline at 962 kg is 11.1 s — 0.1 s slower, 82 kg lighter than that DSG, mixed still 4.9. Do not buy 1.2 MT 75 hp (14.5 s) or 3 generation 1.0 MT 65 hp (16.7 s) for performance; the 65 hp car’s 5.2 mixed is only 0.1 worse than the 90 hp 1.0 T MT 5.1, so the extra 25 hp is almost free on fuel and costs 1.7 s versus 16.7 (16.7 − 11.7 = 5.0 s saved).

Want automatic-style shifting. Only Robotic and Variable exist. Robotic 5: 0.9 DSG, 0.9 TCe Easy-R. Robotic 6: 1.5 DSG. Variable: 3 generation 1.0 T CVT (13.4 s, 5.7 mixed) and 3 generation, restyling 1.0 TCe CVT 91 hp (0–100 not measured, mixed 5.8). The 6-speed diesel robot is the economy automatic: 3.6 mixed, 220 Nm. The petrol robot is the sprint automatic: 11.0 s. The CVT is neither: it is 1.7 s slower than 1.0 T MT and 0.6 l/100 km thirstier.

Want diesel. 1 generation 1.5 MT 90 hp (1464 cc, 200 Nm) is 12.0 or 12.3 s; mixed not measured on those two. 1 generation 1.5 MT 68 hp is the last-resort diesel (15.0–16.7 s). 2 generation / restyling 1.5 MT 75 hp: 12.1 s, 159 km/h, 3.9 mixed, Euro 5, CO2 not measured — 15 hp less than the 90 hp Manual, 0.1 s slower than restyling 1.5 MT 90 hp at 12.0 s (2 generation 90 hp Manual is 11.8 s). The 15 hp costs 0.1–0.3 s; torque is 200 vs 220 Nm. 1.5 DSG 90 hp is the diesel to buy if you cover distance: 3.6 mixed, 92 g/km, 172 km/h, 1033 kg on the light row. 3 generation, restyling 1.5 dCi MT 95 hp, 220 Nm at 1500 rpm (250 rpm earlier than the old 1750 rpm 220 Nm diesels), mixed 4.1, 5 Manual — more power, later torque peak in rpm terms is actually earlier, but 0–100 not measured so you cannot claim it is quicker.

Want LPG. Skip 1 generation 1.6 MT LPG 82 hp (9.6 mixed, 14.1 s, 160 km/h). Skip 1 generation 1.4 MT LPG (8.3 mixed, 13.0 s). 2 generation / restyling 0.9 MT LPG 90 hp is 11.3 s; mixed 5.1, 6.4 or 6.5 depending on row — if two 0.9 MT LPG cars are offered, the restyling 1090 kg / 5.1 mixed / 115 g/km car is 1.3 l/100 km better mixed than the 6.4 car at 1055 kg. 2 generation, restyling 1.0 MT LPG 101 hp: 0–100, top speed, consumption, kerb, gross not measured — you cannot choose it on performance numbers. 3 generation 1.0 T GAS MT is the LPG to buy when those figures are filled in: 100 hp, 170 Nm, 11.6 s, 183 km/h, 5.3 mixed, 1107 kg.

Want the 101 hp petrol of 2 generation, restyling 1.0 MT Gasoline: 11.7 s, 181 km/h, 1040 kg, 50 l tank, Euro 6; consumption and CO2 not measured. Versus 3 generation 1.0 T MT 90 hp: same 11.7 s, 3 km/h less peak on the newer car (178), mixed 5.1 measured only on the newer 90 hp. 11 hp more in the 2016–2021 1.0 MT does not show up in 0–100.

Want height. 2 generation 189 mm versions only: 0.9 MT Gasoline Euro 5, 0.9 MT LPG 168 km/h, 1.5 DSG 166 km/h, 0.9 DSG 168 km/h. You give up the 962 kg petrol’s weight and, on the Euro 5 0.9, the Euro 6 badge.

Want 1 generation at all. Only if you accept 72–87 hp petrol with No boost or 68–90 hp diesel, 155 or 175 mm, and mixed as high as 9.6. The least bad petrol there is 1.2 MT Gasoline 75 hp: 13.6 s, 161 km/h, 5.9 mixed, 975 kg, 139 g/km, Euro 4. The least bad diesel there is 1.5 MT 90 hp 12.0 s if you can live with mixed, CO2, eco, and top speed not measured on that row; the 68 hp 1090 kg car at least publishes 4.5 mixed and 157 km/h.

Arithmetic that decides the “extra” without prices. Going from 3 generation 1.0 MT 65 hp to 1.0 T MT 90 hp: +25 hp, +65 Nm (95 → 160), +1 gear (5 → 6), −5.0 s, +20 km/h, −0.1 mixed, +38 kg. Going from 1.0 T MT to 1.0 T CVT: 0 hp change, −18 Nm (160 → 142), +1.7 s, −9 km/h, +0.6 mixed, +35 kg — the CVT buys convenience only, and the data show a loss on every measured driving number. Going from 1.0 T MT to 1.0 T GAS MT: +10 hp, +10 Nm, −0.1 s, +5 km/h, +0.2 mixed, +55 kg, fuel becomes LPG. Going from restyling 0.9 MT 962 kg Gasoline to 1.0 MT 101 hp Gasoline: +11 hp, +20 Nm, +0.6 s (11.1 → 11.7), +6 km/h (175 → 181), +78 kg; mixed not measured on the 101 hp car so you cannot say it is thirstier. Going from 1.5 MT 75 hp diesel to 1.5 MT 90 hp diesel in 2 generation: +15 hp, +20 Nm, −0.3 s (12.1 → 11.8), +8 km/h (159 → 167), same 3.9 mixed, +142 kg (1016 → 1158). The 90 hp diesel Manual is heavier; the 90 hp 1.5 DSG at 1033 kg is the one that actually uses the extra torque without the 1158 kg penalty.

Problems and reliability are not in this dataset: no failure rates, no service intervals. What the specs do flag as choice risk is missing measurement — especially 3 generation, restyling 1.0 TCe MT 100 hp (mixed 4.1, everything else that buyers use to compare sprints not measured) versus 3 generation, restyling 1.0 TCe MT 91 hp (12.2 s and 175 km/h measured, mixed not measured). Those two share a name; they do not share a complete scorecard. Pick the 100 hp 1.0 TCe MT only if mixed 4.1 l/100 km and 160 Nm at 2000 rpm matter more than a published 0–100; pick the 91 hp 1.0 TCe MT if you need 12.2 s and 175 km/h in writing.

Short list. Daily petrol, light, 11-second car: 2 generation, restyling 0.9 MT Gasoline 90 hp, 962 kg. Daily petrol with a robot: 0.9 DSG Gasoline 90 hp, 11.0 s. High-mileage diesel: 1.5 DSG 90 hp, 3.6 l/100 km mixed, 92 g/km. New-era turbo with a sixth gear: 3 generation 1.0 T MT 90 hp. Fastest listed Sandero: 3 generation 1.0 T GAS MT 100 hp, 183 km/h. Base new-era car only if 16.7 s is acceptable: 3 generation 1.0 MT 65 hp. Avoid using 1 generation 1.6 MT LPG 82 hp as a “gas saver”: 9.6 l/100 km mixed is the model’s worst economy figure, 2.0 l/100 km worse than 1 generation 1.2 MT LPG 72 hp at 7.6.
