Generations: one catalogue, twelve versions
Same name, different power: two 1.9 MT, two 1.9 AT, several 2.0 MT and 2.0 AT. Distinguish them by hp, gearbox, drive, 0–100 and kerb weight.
1 generation (body Estate 5-door) is the only generation in the data. Production of the generation is dated 2006-03-01–2009-06-30; every listed modification is dated 2007-03-01–2009-06-30. There is no second generation to compare, so “what the later generation changed” is not in this catalogue: the spread is inside this one Estate 5-door run. The data list 28 modifications for the generation and show 12 of them; the comparison below uses only those 12.

Diesel bore × stroke is 82 × 90.4; Gasoline is 86 × 86. Compression is 17.5 on the 150 hp diesels, 16.5 on the 180 hp diesels, 9.5 on every Gasoline 2.0. Diesel peak power is at 4000 rpm; Gasoline peak power is at 5500 rpm. Diesel peak torque arrives at 1750–2000 rpm; Gasoline at 2500 rpm.
Specific output (hp per litre of the stated displacement):
- 1.9 MT / 1.9 AT 150 hp: 150 ÷ 1.910 = 78.5 hp/L
- 2.0 MT / 2.0 AT 175 hp: 175 ÷ 1.998 = 87.6 hp/L
- 1.9 MT / 1.9 AT 180 hp: 180 ÷ 1.910 = 94.2 hp/L
- 2.0 MT 200 hp: 200 ÷ 1.998 = 100.1 hp/L
- 2.0 MT / 2.0 AT 210 hp: 210 ÷ 1.998 = 105.1 hp/L
The densest engines in this list are the Gasoline 210 hp 2.0 rows, not the larger-displacement story: displacement only moves from 1910 to 1998 cc (+88 cc).

With the 58 L tank and the measured combined figures, theoretical range is 58 ÷ combined × 100:
- 5.9 L/100 km (1.9 MT 150 hp and 1.9 MT 180 hp): 983 km
- 6.7 (1.9 AT 150 hp): 866 km
- 6.9 (1.9 AT 180 hp): 841 km
- 8.3 (several Gasoline manuals): 699 km
- 9.1 (2.0 AT 210 hp FWD): 637 km
- 9.3 (2.0 AT 175 hp and the heavier 2.0 MT 200 hp): 624 km
The Automatic Diesel costs fuel versus the matching Manual: 1.9 AT 150 hp uses +1.7 city, +0.3 highway, +0.8 combined versus 1.9 MT 150 hp, and is +1.1 s slower to 100 with −5 km/h top speed. 1.9 AT 180 hp versus 1.9 MT 180 hp: +1.9 city, +0.4 highway, +1.0 combined, +0.5 s, −5 km/h.
The 180 hp Diesel Manual does not use more fuel than the 150 hp Diesel Manual on the measured city / highway / combined set: both are 7.8 / 4.8 / 5.9. What the extra 30 hp and +80 Nm buy is −1.7 s (10.4 → 8.7) and +20 km/h (200 → 220), plus −3 g/km CO2 (159 → 156).
Gasoline versus Diesel on combined: the tightest Gasoline combined in the list is 8.3; the tightest Diesel is 5.9 — a +2.4 L/100 km gap. 2.0 MT 175 hp (8.8 s, 215 km/h) is almost the same sprint as 1.9 MT 180 hp (8.7 s, 220 km/h) but uses 8.3 versus 5.9 combined.
Fastest 0–100 in the list: 2.0 MT 210 hp FWD at 7.8 s. Highest top speed: 2.0 MT 200 hp at 1515 kg, 225 km/h. Slowest listed sprint: 1.9 AT 150 hp at 11.5 s. Slowest listed top speed: the same 1.9 AT 150 hp at 195 km/h.
Dimensions and weight
No length, width, height or wheelbase figures are in the data. Tank is 58 L on every listed version. Wheels: not measured. Ground clearance: 120 mm on every Gasoline 2.0 row; not measured on every Diesel 1.9 row.

| 2.0 MT 210 hp AWD | 1540 | 2080 | 540 | 7.33 |
| 2.0 AT 210 hp AWD | 1560 | 2100 | 540 | 7.43 |
Lightest kerb in the list: 1515 kg (2.0 MT 175 hp and the lighter 2.0 MT 200 hp). Heaviest: 1625 kg (1.9 AT 180 hp). Highest payload: 565 kg (1.9 AT 150 hp). Lowest payload: 535 kg (2.0 AT 210 hp FWD). Best kg/hp: 7.33 on both 2.0 MT 210 hp rows (FWD and AWD share 1540 kg). Worst kg/hp: 10.57 on 1.9 AT 150 hp.
Diesel Automatics add 25 kg kerb versus the matching Manual at both 150 hp and 180 hp. Gasoline Automatic 2.0 AT 175 hp is +25 kg versus 2.0 MT 175 hp. 2.0 AT 210 hp FWD is +25 kg versus 2.0 MT 210 hp FWD (1565 vs 1540). 2.0 AT 210 hp AWD is +20 kg versus 2.0 MT 210 hp AWD (1560 vs 1540).
Which version to choose
There is no generation fork. Choose by fuel, then by Manual versus Automatic, then by power, then — only on 210 hp Gasoline — FWD versus AWD.
If combined fuel and range decide it: take 1.9 MT at 150 hp or 1.9 MT at 180 hp. Both are 7.8 / 4.8 / 5.9, 983 km on 58 L. The 180 hp 1.9 MT is the one that actually buys something: +30 hp, +80 Nm (320 → 400), −1.7 s, +20 km/h, −3 g/km CO2, at +40 kg kerb (1560 → 1600) and 8.89 versus 10.40 kg/hp. Combined consumption does not rise. If the catalogue allowed only one Diesel Manual, 1.9 MT 180 hp is the arithmetic winner of that pair.
If you want Diesel but Automatic 6: 1.9 AT 180 hp versus 1.9 AT 150 hp is +30 hp, torque 370 versus 320 (+50 Nm; note the Automatic 180 is 30 Nm below the Manual 180’s 400), −2.3 s (11.5 → 9.2), +20 km/h (195 → 215), combined 6.9 versus 6.7 (+0.2), kerb +40 kg. CO2 on 1.9 AT 150 hp is not measured; 1.9 AT 180 hp is 182. The Automatic tax versus 1.9 MT 180 hp remains +0.5 s, −5 km/h, +1.0 combined, +25 kg.
If you want Gasoline and a Manual 6: three power steps share the same 1998 cc, 4 Inline, Turbo, 95 fuel, Distributed injection (multi-point).
- 2.0 MT 175 hp: 8.8 s, 215 km/h, 8.3 combined, 1515 kg, 197 g/km. Closest Diesel rival is 1.9 MT 180 hp (8.7 s, 220 km/h, 5.9 combined, 1600 kg). The Gasoline 175 is 85 kg lighter but +2.4 L/100 km combined.
- 2.0 MT 200 hp exists twice. The 1515 kg row: 8.1 s, 225 km/h, 11.5 / 6.5 / 8.3, CO2 not measured. The 1540 kg row: 9.2 s (+1.1 s), 220 km/h (−5), 13.3 / 6.9 / 9.3 (combined +1.0), CO2 222. Same name, same 200 hp / 300 Nm; the lighter row is the faster and more economical of the two. Versus 175 hp 2.0 MT, the lighter 200 hp row adds +25 hp and +35 Nm at the same 1515 kg and the same 8.3 combined, −0.7 s and +10 km/h.
- 2.0 MT 210 hp FWD: 7.8 s (fastest in the whole list), 220 km/h, 11.5 / 6.5 / 8.3, 1540 kg, CO2 not measured, 7.33 kg/hp. Versus the lighter 200 hp 2.0 MT: +10 hp, same 300 Nm, +25 kg, −0.3 s, −5 km/h top speed, same combined 8.3. The extra 10 hp buys the sprint record, not a higher top speed than the 225 km/h 200 hp row.
If you want Gasoline Automatic 5 (Diesel Automatics are 6; Gasoline Automatics in this list are 5):
- 2.0 AT 175 hp: 10 s, 210 km/h, 9.3 combined, 222 g/km, 1540 kg. Versus 2.0 MT 175 hp: +1.2 s, −5 km/h, +1.0 combined, +25 kg.
- 2.0 AT 210 hp FWD: 8.6 s, 215 km/h, 13.7 / 6.5 / 9.1, CO2 not measured, 1565 kg. Versus 2.0 AT 175 hp: +35 hp, +35 Nm, −1.4 s, +5 km/h, combined 9.1 versus 9.3 (−0.2), +25 kg. Versus 2.0 MT 210 hp FWD: +0.8 s, −5 km/h, combined 9.1 versus 8.3, +25 kg.
AWD appears only on 210 hp Gasoline. 2.0 MT 210 hp AWD versus 2.0 MT 210 hp FWD: same 1540 kg, same 11.5 / 6.5 / 8.3, same 220 km/h; AWD is +0.7 s to 100 (8.5 vs 7.8). CO2 is 199 on AWD Manual and not measured on FWD Manual. 2.0 AT 210 hp AWD matches the FWD Automatic’s 8.6 s and 215 km/h at 1560 kg (−5 kg versus FWD Automatic 1565); city / highway / combined and CO2 on 2.0 AT 210 hp AWD are not measured. AWD does not add kerb on the Manual pair; it adds time to 100, not fuel on the measured Manual figures.
Problems and reliability are not measured in this dataset. Do not infer them from the numbers above.
Short map: Diesel Manual 1.9 MT 180 hp if you want the lowest measured combined (5.9) without giving up the Diesel sprint (8.7 s, 220 km/h). Diesel Automatic 1.9 AT 180 hp if you want Automatic 6 and still 9.2 s / 215 km/h. Gasoline Manual 2.0 MT 210 hp FWD if the catalogue’s lowest 0–100 (7.8 s) and 7.33 kg/hp matter more than Diesel’s 5.9 combined. Lighter 2.0 MT 200 hp (1515 kg, 8.1 s, 225 km/h) if top speed is the figure you rank first. 2.0 MT 210 hp AWD only if you need AWD; the measured cost is 0.7 s, not extra combined fuel. Skip 1.9 AT 150 hp if you can take 1.9 AT 180 hp: same Automatic 6 and FWD, +30 hp, −2.3 s, +20 km/h, combined only +0.2. Skip the heavier 2.0 MT 200 hp (1540 kg, 9.2 s, 9.3 combined) if the lighter 200 hp row is available: same name, same 200 hp, worse sprint, worse fuel, lower top speed.
